Als Zentrum der Insel und einziger Fährhafen konzentriert sich hier die touristische Infrastruktur und man bekommt einiges geboten: Restaurants, Cafés, Bäckereien, Supermarkt, Geschäfte, Wochenmarkt, Auto- und Scooterverleih, Konzerte etc.<br /> Es gibt auch einiges zu besichtigen: Die Zitadelle des berühmten Militärarchitekten Vauban oder das alte Rathaus zum Beispiel.<br /> <br /> Der müde Skipper kann an einer Boje im Vorhafen festmachen. Dort ist es allerdings etwas unruhig, wegen des dauernden Fährbetriebs. Auch kommt man eben nur mit dem Dinghi an Land. Im Innenhafen liegen einige flachgehende Boote (Multicoque). Eine attraktive Alternative ist der ganz innen gelegene Schleusenhafen. Dort liegen auch Kielboote längsseits-sehr komfortabel. Die Schleusenzeiten sind beim Hafenmeister zu erfragen und hängen auch am alten Schleusenwärterhäuschen neben der Schleuse aus.<br /> Bei passendem Wetter kann man auch gut im [[Port Guen]] ankern und zu Fuß die ca. 2km nach Le Palais laufen.
